Cross-Line vs 360° Laser Levels
Start with the reference lines you need—not the biggest number on the package. A cross-line laser projects intersecting horizontal and vertical lines. A 360° horizontal laser projects around a room; multi-plane systems add more 360° planes.
Typical use by format
- Cross-line: pictures, shelving and straightforward one-wall layout work.
- 360° horizontal: a continuous height reference around a room.
- 3×360° / 4×360°: multiple horizontal/vertical reference planes useful for tile, cabinets and full-room layouts. Confirm the exact plane configuration.
- Rotary: suitable for certain long-range outdoor elevation tasks, subject to detector and slope features.
What these labels do not guarantee
Three 360-degree line planes do not turn a laser into a rotary grading unit. A bright green beam alone does not guarantee visibility in sunlight. For high-stakes layout, verify published accuracy at the stated distance and the exact kit contents.
